Benjamin Bohlmann has extensive knowledge and experience in cross-border business operations, particularly international, federal and state taxation. Having lived overseas, he has particular knowledge of financial and tax strategies for foreign investments into the U.S., from the start-up level to large, established U.S. subsidiaries of foreign-owned entities. He frequently lectures on international commerce topics including start-up financing and the issues facing foreign owned businesses in the U.S.
Benjamin's unique professional experience ranges from serving South American flower importers and Latin American professional service providers entering the U.S. market to Asian and European industrial goods importers. He also advises U.S. businesses and investors on their out-bound ventures, helping them best manage the intricacies of operating in foreign business environments. He has broad experience in both Federal and State taxation, focusing on the U.S. tax impact of international transactions, as well as high net worth individuals, closely held businesses and S Corporations.
Benjamin graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tulane University in 1982, where he received Departmental Honors in Economics. In 1990, he earned his Masters of Science in Taxation from Florida International University. He attends the annual Florida Bar International Tax Conference and participated in the 2006 New York University International Taxation professional studies program. Benjamin worked with Price Waterhouse in Miami and Tokyo for six years and KPMG in Miami before he joined Mallah Furman in 1994.
